OKC Week 13 - Caught in a Rainstorm

Family & Friends,

I'm short on time this week so I want to share one thought.

Drenched Head to Toe!
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is so real! I have been reminded once again during my interview with Pres. Mansell.  He asked me what the atonement of Jesus Christ has done for me and what doctrine of Christ changed our lives. Well repentance is mine. I have realized, once again, that Christ doesn't just allow us to be clean again, but to also feel comfort. He takes away the pain. Christ is the ultimate example of Charity. He loves us so much! I have been thinking that he didn't have to suffer for us, but he did, and if we don't use His atoning sacrifice, we are showing him that we don't care about the sacrifice He made. His Atonement has changed my life. Even on my mission, I see burdens lifted. The Lord really does bless our efforts, and he wants so badly for us to use him for comfort, and as our Savior.

My challenge this week is to answer the same question I was asked, "What has the atonement of Jesus Christ done for you?"  Then write about it in your journal.  I love you all so much!

OKC Week 12 - Short and Sweet

Hey Y'all!

This is going to be short, but I wanted to share a cool miracle! Oh and of course give you a challenge:)

Car Selfie! Cause why not?:)
At the beginning of the transfer we were out tracting on a very hot day, and we stopped at McDonald's to get some waters. We pulled up to the drive-thru, and I felt bad just taking their water and not buying something, so I gave the cashier at the window a pass along card with our number and the church address. She looked at it and said thanks, and we moved right on. Fast forward 4 weeks. We were once again going through the same McDonald's drive-thru for water, but this time I got a slushy so I wouldn't feel bad, haha๐Ÿ˜Š and guess who gave us our food? The same lady I gave the card to!  She handed us the drinks and recognized us and told us that she would try and make it to church one Sunday!! Ahhh we were both dumbfounded! We were seriously looking for a miracle that day, and at the end we found her! We now know she works regularly at McDonald's so we will stop by and follow up๐Ÿ˜€  Who knew right!? the Lord works in the most amazing ways!!

Did you wake up with a purpose this week? My challenge for you this week is to find your favorite scripture, and share it with someone, and then explain why it has helped you overcome challenges:)

Mine is Moroni 7:13, "But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God."

I love this because it reminds me everyday to look for the things of God. All that comes from God is good, and it inviteth good, and enticeth to do good.

I Love you all so much!! Look for those miracles! And have a Great week back in School!!

Oklahoma for y'all, and the storm that never hit us.

We met this family from Cameroon Africa!
(ps we are now teaching them too!๐Ÿ˜Š)
and they gave us chocolate (Mambo) straight from Africa!
It was the most delicious gift ever!

"What is this day!?"...
We started the day like normal, and  it was like 9am and the power went out.  We were like "oh no," but not to worry cause the maintenance guy can fix it, right? NOPE... We left and did our thing for the day and when we came back at 8pm that night our power was still out! and everything in our fridge was getting nasty๐Ÿ˜Ÿ  Well it turns out that when the mission office moved locations, our apartment records got lost and stayed behind....  They hadn't payed the electric bill for 8 MONTHS!!! and didn't even know it! Sister D couldn't pay it until the next morning because she wasn't even near the office. So we improvised for the night, and chilled in our hot apartment watching the crazy cool storm happening outside.  It was a very interesting night๐Ÿ˜  But one AWESOME adventure!
Party in the Elder's Car!

OKC - Week 11 Miracles and Earthquakes?

Hey Ya'll that I Love so Much!!

Exchange day with Sister McFadden
Yes, you read that title right, Earthquakes! I never thought Oklahoma could get any, but apparently we do. My companion and I were talking with this guy on the street, and he was like, "and did y'all feel that earthquake yesterday?! It was crazy!" We looked at each other super confused, and laughed and said no. We literally didn't feel a thing! But everyone else we have talked to has felt them, and on multiple days. I guess this place is filled with oil rigs and the machinery causes man made quakes. Who knew. I thought tornados were as crazy as it got here. Apparently one touched down 2 hours from where I am, in Tulsa. Not huge, but I guess it destroyed a restaurant๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Ok now for all the Miracles that happened this week!!! We went on exchanges this week and Sister Mcfaden and I went to this neighborhood, picked 3 streets that caught our attention, and then prayed to know which one to go to. We both saw this one, Deer Springs, and so off we went. The point is that the Lord didn't want us on that particular street but the one right next to it. We ended up down that one, and almost every person we talked to was someone who we needed to see.
One lady in particular answered the door and was on the phone. When she saw us she told the person on the other line that she would have to call them back. She came out and had the biggest smile on her face. We told her that we were there to share a pretty amazing message about Jesus Christ. She asked us a few questions, and then she began to cry. She blamed it on being 40, but we knew it was the spirit:) She grew up Methodist, but never felt complete going to church, but knew she needed to take her son back to church. She then asked us where our church building was. It was incredible! We stood there for a bit contemplating what had just happened, and were trying to find words! The Lord needed us down that street, and she needed to feel that Spirit at that very moment. We are so excited to teach her and her family!

In District Council the other day we talked about if you want Miracles to happen, you have to believe they will happen. Remember last week's challenge, to wake up with a purpose. Well that day we did this, and our purpose was to find miracles. Well, the Lord had some incredible people in mind, and Miracles were seen!

Another one in that same neighborhood happened. There was this 9 yr. old boy that was racing the mail lady, and then kept asking us questions as we walked around. "Who are you?" "What are you doing?" "Why do you knock on lots of doors?" "Why are your bikes tied to that pole?" "Whats that book in your hand?" He was so cute! but we ended up finding out where he lived (in the most non creepy way don't worry) and talked with his dad for a bit. Well guess what we have an appointment with him next Friday!! So Many Miracles!!!
Dog Tracting!!
Your challenge this week is to look for the little or big miracles or tender mercies you have in your life, and write them down in a journal. I promise you will come to see that the Lord really does know and care for you so much!

I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!! Have a Miraculous Week!

OKC - Week 10 Everyday have a Purpose

Hey Ya'll!!

This is gonna be Short, but this week was full of so many crazy AWESOME adventures!!! Sister K and I saw miracles everyday!! We had transfers and Sister K and I are still keeping our area and eachother!! I'm so excited!!

Parteeee!!!
We got to take in 2 of the returning missionaries for a night though because 40 went home this transfer!!! Crazy!! But we had so much fun, and they gave us so much good advice, and man do I look up to them! Funny thing though, we told them that they could have our beds because it was their last night in the mission, and ya know, they seriously argued with us for 5 minutes, and sister K stormed into our room and grabbed all her bedding and laid down on the floor. Me looking at her, was like, oh yeah I'm gonna get mine too. Haha! Dang it Sister K! Nah it was so much fun because we had a sleepover on the floor of our apartment! It was legit! But it didn't feel too great in the morning ๐Ÿ˜ #toughsisters

Oklahoma City Temple
Right across the street from our church building
We had the privilege to hear from the General Women's Presidencies!  Sister Bingham, Sister Marriott, and Sister Cordon! They spoke to the sister missionaries in our area, and it was an incredible meeting, full of the Spirit! One of the main things that was focused on was letting the lord guide our missionary service. This is not our work, but the Lord's. Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." This scripture is so right! We can't rely on our own knowledge and understanding, because the Lord was the one who provided it in the first place. He knows the needs of our investigators, so we should trust Him always:) We are "Called to Serve Him." These 3 women are AMAZING and the light of Christ radiates in them! This was the ultimate experience!

Well I hope you all have a spectacular week! Remember that you are worth so much in the Lord's eyes! Your challenge for this week is to do something that a Baptist Preacher encouraged Oklahoma to do, "Everyday when you get up, there's a purpose!" Make everyday have a specific purpose.  Make that purpose meaningful and full of faith. Also allow the Lord to be with you every step of the way!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

OKC - week 9 "Your Future Is as Bright as your Faith"

Hey Hey Hey!!!

A baseball field is a baseball field ;)
Sister K was a little bit Hangry xD
I found this for you Larae!!!! #onlyinoklahoma
Oklahoma beach for ya'll
This week has been quite the adventure! Our P-day last Monday was downtown OKC in a place called Brick Town. Every building is brick, literally! It was so cool!! It took us a while to find it though. By the time we found it we were so tired, but we had too much to see to be tired! We ran into "Bricktown beach." I thought it was gonna be like a real beach and I got really excited, but then I realized that I'm in Oklahoma City, and how is that possible (see picture) haha! We found the Dodgers baseball field!!!! But it took us asking someone if it was the real dodgers...nope! You can tell how much I know about baseball. But hey it was still so cool!! Oh and by the way driving in the middle of OKC is super scary during rush hour...Ha we survived!

So, I found a quote by President Monson in my journal the other day, and want to share it, "Your Future Is as Bright as your Faith." This has been my motto this week, and this week has been a week of so much growth! When we leave our apartment we pray, and ask that God will lead us in the right direction, and place us where he needs us missionaries to be. After that prayer our whole focus needs to be on what we prayed for, and we can't ignore any promptings! We experienced both sides of this this week, and one night we were evaluating the day. We had to ask ourselves, "should we have stopped and talked to that man right in front of us?" or "did we need to knock a few more houses?" As missionaries we make mistakes all the time because we are so far from perfect, but these days that we ignored the spirit are the days that sister K and I had to move forward, and learn from it. Miracles only happen when you have prepared your whole mind, might, and heart to teach everyone the Lord puts in your path. Faith is putting your trust in the Spirit and responding to every prompting.

Yesterday was an incredible day of growth and miracles! putting an effort to study in the morning, praying constantly, and putting the Lord before everything was our main focus. It made such a difference! We used every ounce of time we had talking to people, door knocking, visiting less actives, potentials, and former's. We saw so many miracles left and right! One in particular I want to share happened at the end of the day.

We were trying to see a less active member, but they weren't home. We knocked a few doors, and then came back around in the circle and their neighbor had just gotten home. We took that opportunity to talk with her. We asked her about the family next door who we were trying to contact. Apparently they moved 2 years previous, so we were not guided to see them. We talked with this girl for a good hour. She has such a strong desire to help all people come closer to God and turn their lives around. We were sharing about the restoration and bits of the Plan of Salvation, and she was so engaged! She said that it all made so much sense that there is a chance in the Spirit World for all to hear and accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She told us she felt good when she heard those things because her passion is helping everyone be happy, and turning to God is the ultimate way to do this. We are coming back to see her later this week! We can't wait to teach her more!! The Spirit guided us to her that day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Kiwi Mom!
Sister K had her Birthday yesterday!! The Family we had dinner with decorated and even made her a cake! She was smiling ear to ear, and I know it just made her day!

Well I would love to know how it went with talking to people this last week! Did you see any miracles?? This weeks challenge is follow President Monson's quote, "Your future is as bright as your faith."  How can you develop a stronger faith in your life? Whatever it is think about it determining you future. How can you develop a stronger faith in what the Lord has in store for you?

Have a fantastic week! oh and keep smiling!!! "Ye are the light of the World." (Matthew 5:14-16)
Don't hide your incredible testimonies, let them testify of Christ!

Love, Sister Walker
